Who is Deaf Services Bureau

Deaf Services Bureau, Inc. (DSB) is a non-profit social services agency that has been serving the Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities for over 27 years.  Today the agency continues to be the only one in the area that provides comprehensive services to the Hearing Impaired community through its linguistically and culturally adequate staff.  The majority of clients that we serve are families.

Our main goal is advocacy and education.  Educating the general population about the identity and needs of the Deaf community has become a focus of significance.  Special events and programs enhance interaction of Deaf and Hearing communities, providing opportunities for the interaction of Deaf and Hearing cultures in a relaxed environment.

Education and advocacy is provided throughout the community:  to funding sources, other services, judicial and legislative bodies, hospitals, the education system, Deaf individuals, their relatives and friends.  Information presentations regarding Deaf Culture are offered to all segments of the community.  Speakers from Deaf Services Bureau and knowledgeable volunteers are available to address schools, courts, employers, and other entities on a variety of subjects related to Deaf Culture's various myths and realities.

We also provide education and advocacy through the dissemination of written information seminars, workshops, classes and service fairs planned and managed by the agency.  Local businesses inquiring about compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act receive information on interpreting and employment services available though our agency
